Julia O’Neill

Julia discovered yoga at age 19 one Saturday in Los Angeles in 1989. A friend asked her to attend a yoga class with her in a giant mission-style church, somewhere in Westwood. Her teacher was a soft-spoken 65-year-old woman and, although she remembers very few details about the class itself, she remembers how it made her feel. Julia felt clear - as if she was seeing colors more vibrantly. The air in her lungs felt clean and big. She felt connected somehow - as if the world had opened up a bit wider. Those sentiments stayed with her all day and wanted more.

Today, Julia is a registered, certified and working teacher of multiple styles and schools of yoga, each one of which she loves and wants to give forward to those who want to learn as well. She is formally trained in Hot Vinyasa and is a long-time practitioner of Bikram and recently adding Hot 26 & 2 to her accomplishments. Her interests and focus lie in building strength and alignment, using strong breath work and musculo-skeletal self-reliance to increase and sustain flexibility and agility at any age and with any body type. Willingness, humility and commitment are qualities inspired by yoga practice and what she aspires to offer her students.

Julia will forever be a student of yoga philosophy, believing the connection and presence all humans crave in this life can be achieved by anyone who seeks it through this physical and spiritual practice.
